<big>Para cambiar un determinado comportamiento existen dos opciones: imponer o convencer. La imposición sin convencimiento no resulta efectiva a medio plazo y requiere un esfuerzo coercitivo permanente que consume preciosos recursos. Mucho mejor es buscar el cambio por la vía del ejemplo o de la diversión. Esta última opción suele ser poco utilizada pese a su efectividad. Pensamos que en los negocios debe imperar la adustez y el distanciamiento autoritario, por lo que penalizamos la falta de seriedad formal. Sin embargo, basta con despertar la curiosidad y el instinto lúdico que todos llevamos dentro para conseguir resultados impactantes. He aquí un bonito ejemplo:</big>

En esos momentos, <strong>recurrir al humor suele ser un excelente remedio</strong>. Incluyo asimismo el <strong>sano ejercicio de no darnos demasiada importancia y de relajar nuestro sentido del ridículo,</strong> tan exacerbado en el caso español. El guionista de cine americano <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0163937/" title="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0163937/" id="link_0">Frank Howard Clark</a> escribió que la mejor manera de solucionar un problema es encontrar algo de humor en él, y <a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahatma_Gandhi" title="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mahatma_Gandhi" id="link_1">Gandhi </a> afirmaba que de no haber tenido sentido del humor, se habría suicidado muy pronto.
Muchas situaciones tensas podrían disolverse de golpe si nos diéramos cuenta de su absurdidad. Seguro que alguna vez ustedes han vivido momentos parecidos: los litigantes, acalorados, se miran, y de repente, estalla la carcajada ante la ridiculez del enfado. Después todo va como la seda. De eso se trata, en esencia. Encontrar ese punto de inflexión en el acaloramiento, ese motivo divertido que rompa las tiranteces y nos devuelva a un lugar común, es un arte de difícil ejecución.
<strong>Háganme caso: ríanse más </strong>. Y hago esta recomendación extensiva a nuestros responsables políticos, que de tan estupendos, estirados y trascendentales como se ponen, se nos acaban por atragantar. Tal vez si repararan en los desaguisados verbales y situacionales que perpetran, situándose en nuestro lugar de espectadores, comprobarían que lo suyo es de comedia. A menudo, de comedia trágica.</big>

El regreso al trabajo es para ellos un calvario y cuesta un mundo que emprendan cualquier proyecto con entusiasmo. O dicen que no saben o, directamente, no quieren. <img class="imgcen" id="img_0" src="http://lacomunidad.elpais.com/blogfiles/lentejas/PyG.jpg"><big>Insistiré un poco más en el tema planteado en mi entrada anterior sobre "<a id="link_0" title="http://lacomunidad.elpais.com/lentejas/2009/9/7/la-mala-buena-fortuna" href="http://lacomunidad.elpais.com/lentejas/2009/9/7/la-mala-buena-fortuna">la buena mala fortuna</a>", donde <strong>animaba a cambiar de perspectiva y relativizar nuestros problemas como necesario ejercicio de salud mental</strong>. Lo escrito entonces es extensible, por supuesto, a los negocios.
El señor (o la señora) "X" acaba de comprobar que su patrimonio se ha visto reducido, a causa de unas inversiones desafortunadas, de 1.200.000 euros a 1.000.000 euros. Por otra parte, su cuñado (o cuñada) "Y" advierte que unas operaciones acertadas han incrementado su riqueza de 100.000 a 300.000 euros. <strong>"X" sigue siendo bastante más rico que "Y", pero con seguridad se siente mucho más desgraciado que su cuñado, y no por cuestiones de parentesco</strong>.
Este hecho fue formulado por <a id="link_1" title="http://lacomunidad.elpais.com/lentejas/2008/11/30/mis-economistas-cabecera-1-daniel-kahneman" href="http://lacomunidad.elpais.com/lentejas/2008/11/30/mis-economistas-cabecera-1-daniel-kahneman">Daniel Kahneman </a>y Amos Tversky el año 1979 en su <em><a id="link_0" title="http://prospect-theory.behaviouralfinance.net/" href="http://prospect-theory.behaviouralfinance.net/">Prospect Theory</a></em>, según la cual asignamos más valor a nuestras ganacias y pérdidas que al cómputo final de nuestros activos. De forma análoga, los autores establecieron que la gente subestima en grado muy notable y poco racional las ganacias probables frente a las seguras, aunque estas sean mínimas. Y es que <strong>la psicología nos juega malas pasadas </strong>(otro ejemplo: "<a id="link_2" title="http://lacomunidad.elpais.com/lentejas/2008/12/3/empenarse-el-error" href="http://lacomunidad.elpais.com/lentejas/2008/12/3/empenarse-el-error">Empeñarse en el error</a>").
Por tanto, ganar nos proporciona felicidad y perder nos hunde en la miseria. "Y" se siente como un ganador, mientras que "X" arrastra los pies en el fango de los derrotados, aunque su patrimonio supera al de su cuñado en casi un millón de euros. No obstante, si en lugar de lamentarse con amargura por su mala fortuna modificara su perspectiva, podría darse cuenta de que su problema no es tan enorme ni tan digno de lástima como cree.

Protesta tanto por su desventura como por la buena suerte del vecino. Amargado e insatisfecho crónico, puede envenenar cualquier grupo con su incansable derrotismo.
Cierto es que siempre tendemos a sobrestimar nuestras pérdidas o carencias, incluso si son ridículas, pero convertir ese comportamiento natural en un hábito malsano sólo nos puede llevar a la desdicha. Por otra parte, es un defecto fácil de subsanar: <strong>sólo tenemos que cambiar de perspectiva</strong>. Ya lo dijo Ortega y lo formuló científicamente Einstein: <strong>todo es relativo.</strong> Y haremos bien en recordarlo cuando caigamos en la tentación del lamento fácil. Bastará con mirar a nuestro alrededor (y más allá: echemos un vistazo al planeta) para comprobar que hay personas que están mucho peor que nosotros, en muchos sentidos. <strong>Demostrar empatía, arrimar el hombro y respirar el dolor ajeno no nos hará más felices ni más ricos, pero nos ayudará a valorar las dificultades en su justa medida</strong>.
Sólo entonces podremos comprender que, en un mundo superpoblado de perdedores sin remedio, tenemos infinidad de motivos para vivir de manera positiva sin amargarnos la existencia ni estropeársela a los demás.</big>

<big>Hoy en día, <strong>a un hecho tan normal y comprensible como sentirnos agobiados y algo deprimidos porque se nos acaban las vacaciones se le llama <em>síndrome posvacacional</em></strong>. Un término del que abusarán presuntos expertos para elaborar sus teorías de superación personal, que presentarán en forma de entrevistas, conferencias y publicaciones diversas. Nada que objetar, es una forma como cualquier otra de ganarse la vida. Pero no caigamos deslumbrados ante tanta paparrucha, seamos sensatos, reconozcamos la normalidad del sentimiento, convivamos con él y sigamos adelante sin dramas ni alharacas. <strong>Una actitud positiva vale más que cien manuales de autoayuda</strong>. El filósofo estadounidense <a href="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_James" title="http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_James" id="link_0">William James</a> afirmaba que <strong>los seres humanos, mediante el cambio de nuestra actitudes internas, podemos modificar los aspectos externos de nuestras vidas</strong>. Aunque no consigamos influir en todas las circunstancias que nos rodean, creo sinceramente en la idea expresada por James. El propio refranero popular lo corrobora cuando nos pide que pongamos buena cara al mal tiempo. Y es así.
Regresar al trabajo y al trajín cotidiano después de un merecido descanso vacacional forma parte de nuestra normalidad, y como tal deberíamos asumirlo. Que uno pueda trabajar constituye, ya de por sí, un motivo de satisfacción en los duros tiempos que corren. Una vez interiorizado este hecho, tan sólo hacen falta algunos empujones adicionales para arrancar la jornada de manera favorable. En este sentido, <strong>soy un firme defensor de las rutinas íntimas</strong>. Me refiero a esas modestas costumbres y satisfacciones que nos permiten calentar el motor vital y esbozar la primera sonrisa del día. Debemos cultivarlas y promoverlas.
En mi caso, siempre me levanto un poco más temprano de lo normal para poder asearme y desayunar sin prisas. Salto de la cama con buena disposición. Preparo la ropa que me voy a poner, bebo un gran vaso de agua y antes de ducharme dejo lista la mesa del desayuno, que en mi caso es copioso: un plátano, un bol de cereales, tostadas o galletas y café. Me afeito escuchando las primeras noticias del día y sigo con ellas en la televisión mientras como con tranquilidad. Entretanto, mi perrita Canela está ya en modalidad pimienta, desperezada y esperando la primera salida. Damos un corto paseo a la fresca y listo: tengo las pilas cargadas para lo que venga. He aquí un pequeño ceremonial que funciona. Otros seguirán sus propias y efectivas rutinas; <strong>el objetivo es contribuir a la creación de una corriente positiva que nos ayude a sobrellevar las dificultades y obligaciones diarias</strong>.
Dicho lo cual, <strong>siento una tremenda curiosidad por saber qué les funciona a ustedes.</strong>
