Hola,

Se acerca la Navidad. Las tiendas ya están llenas de juguetes. Las televisiones dedican gran parte de su tiempo a anuncios comerciales de juguetes. Las familias y las niñas ya están soñando con los juguetes.

Como educadoras que somos, nosotras también estamos ya preocupadas por los efectos educativos que tienen los juguetes en la formación de la personalidad de las niñas y niños. Sin duda, los juguetes son uno de los elementos más importantes para la transmisión de valores en nuestra personalidad.

Nos preocupa el gran afán de consumismo exagerado, la globalización de la explotación en la mano de obra infantil, la influencia en los valores sexistas, el individualismo, la adición de hábitos violentos, el abuso del medio ambiente . . . .

Así que ya estamos dispuestas a trabajar estos aspectos en los lugares donde nos encontramos. Si tenéis alguna iniciativa, nos la contáis para compartir aprendizajes.

Por mi parte, os envío esta cartilla que he preparado. La podéis descargar en

Es una página web gratuita y ocupa mucho (47 megas) debido a los gráficos que incluye. Por eso tiene algunas dificultades descargarla.
Copiáis la dirección en la ventana del servidor y cliqueáis.
Aparece una página. Cliqueáis la última palabra de la página donde dice FREE.
Aparece otra página. En la línea 15 más o menos aparece este mensaje:

Si ha descargado el documento otra persona hace poco, en esa línea te dirá cuantos minutos tienes que esperar.
Si han pasado dos horas después de que lo descargó otra persona, entonces en la línea siguiente aparece un contador desde dos minutos hasta cero que va disminuyendo. Cuando llega a cero aparece una página nueva.
En el rectangulito vacío que hay en medio de la página copias lo que están en la línea inmediatamente superior y cliqueas en download. Tarda en bajar unos cinco minutos y tienes que asegurarte de que guardas una copia en el disco duro.

Si quieres evitarte toda esta complicación, me puedes pedir una copia impresa que te la enviaré por correo contrareembolso. Son 92 páginas. Vale 9 euros más los gastos de envío que son unos siete euros.

3. Say no to war toys and war games

Every holiday season manufacturers prey on our children with pro-war propaganda disguised as innocent toys. Don't let your child be a victim of G.I. Joe! As you're out buying holiday gifts, make a point this year to show little ones that war is not game. Set an example forthe children in your life and use the opportunity to teach themnon-violence.

Operation Stick it to Them: Go to your local toy store and plaster their war toys and games with "Don't Buy War Toys" stickers.

4. Speak up for peace at you local mall

Organize a trip to the mall with like-minded friends to hand out anti-war flyers with the "Don't Buy Bush's War" message. When you hand out the flyers, be polite and try to engage people, if they are willing. You can also ask parents not to buy war toys and war games. Urge them to teach their children that war is not a game. Tell them to have a peaceful holiday.

Wear a CODEPINK t-shirt or a pink slip and be visible!

Northwest Indiana CODEPINK has been organizing mall walks. The group's coordinator, Nina, says, "We wear our Out of Iraq T-shirts, put the kids in strollers and walk around the local mall. This has been very effective in contacting new people. We don't actively leaflet, but have flyers for those who ask about our organization."

5. Go caroling with holiday peace songs

Gather family and friends to go peace caroling in your neighborhood, at your local mall or in your town square.

6. Make a Bloody Handprint Wreath:

Remind your house party guests, or family and friends, of the blood that has been spilt in Iraq by creating a bloody handprint wreath.

Items needed:

Construction paper or poster board in pink or white
Red paint to make hand print
Red construction paper if you want to cut out hand print
Glitter pens to decorate and write “No War” on hand print
Glue or tape
String or pink ribbon

How to make a Red Paint Hands Wreath

On poster board or construction paper, draw a circle in pencil (use a plate or other hard round object) at least 7 inches in diameter.
Remove all rings and bracelets, and cover one hand with red paint.
Pressing firmly, make a handprint in the shape of a circle on construction paper or poster board.
Move the poster board or construction paper slightly to the left, and continue to press your hand around the edge of the penciled-in circle. You will need to reapply paint with every new "hand."
When you have completed the circle, write "Peace on Earth - Stop the killing in Iraq!" in the center, using a glitter pen or black marker.
Make a circle with glitter pen or black marker over the penciled-in circle.
Make two holes at the top of your "wreath", thread string or pink ribbon through holes, and tape or glue to your door or other surface.

For paper handprints, follow the same instructions, except: cut out paper in the shape of hand and paint red. You can also trace and cut out red handprints from red construction paper and create your wreath by gluing the red hands together.

7. Go see Persepolis at a theater near you

Persepolis is based on the autobiographical graphic novel by Marjane Satrapi about growing up in Iran during the cultural revolution. The book was featured in CODEPINK's book club in October. Organize an outing to see the film, which opens with limited release December 25, and wider after the new year. After the screening, you have a great opportunity to stand outside the theater and ask for people who have just viewed the film to sign our Iran petition.

Print out our Iran petition and invite people sign it at the theatre.

Print out our ½ page Iran info flyer and pass it out to moviegoers.

8. Visit your local Congressperson while they are home for the holidays

Congress is home on recess December 20 ~ January 3. To find out where your representative’s office is, click here. You'll make the most of your time by choosing ahead of time the lead speaker(s), a notetaker, a photographer, and a person to follow up with an email afterward. Be sure to post an account, with photos if possible, to the Local Spotlight on our website. Congress continues to cook up half-baked legislation that allows them to keep funding the war in Iraq while attempting to present an anti-war image. We must remain uncompromising and clear with our message: Only fund the withdrawal of our troops and the rebuilding of Iraq (by Iraqis), prevent a war with Iran, and restore our civil liberties. 9. Donate to Iraqi Refugees and CODEPINK

Give the gift of peace by donating to our fund to help Iraq refugees and fund CODEPINK actions in DC to end the occupation.

Suponemos que te refieres a la increíble acción que sale en el vídeo de YouTube del Tango Yo Mango en Argentina, no? La lucha social es emocionante, sin duda, más cuando sabemos qué grandes son los gigantes que hay que combatir. Es dura y bella, y ocurre todos los días. A nosotras/os también nos emocionó la iniciativa, por eso quisimos difundirla.

Susurros...ummmmm me dejais intrigado con ese porqué. De hecho sería interesante descubrir que características que no sean biológicas atribuimos a un hombre o una mujer como propias. Por supuesto sería interesante también saber porque se las atribuimos que no sean prejuicios de orden sociocultural. El monito no se si es un chico (igual es una monita) y no tiene relación con el poema del genial Huidobro, excelso poeta chileno.
Por otra parte me encanta la ambiguedad (me gusta ir del que se las da de no dárselas)y la duda, ya que en mis sueños no se lo que soy.
Gracias por formar parte de mi club de fans , es un honor para mi que l@s autores de ese blog tan riguroso y sesudo pasen por aquí y muestren interés por los artículos y mi sexo.
La confusión nace sin duda por pensar demasiado.

:D Sí, todo es por condicionamiento sociocultural, pensamos. El condicionamiento biológico, en unos seres con imaginación, no lo consideramos muy condicionante, jajajajaj, salvo que tienes que comer si no te mueres, y similares (lo que no incluye la actividad sexual, pues eso en seres con imaginación va más allá de cualquier condicionamiento biológico y pasa a ser algo del orden mental, producto la mente humana - lee todo esto, claro, con voz de expertas y expertos, jajajajaj ;) :D ). Para aliviar la intriga, que sabemos lo mucho que quema la curiosidad porque somos de natural curioso!, fue por lo cariñoso que eras con todo el mundo. Nosotras/os hemos hablado mucho de sexo y género y de mente y cerebro y de biología y cultura, pero eso no quita para que seamos productos de nuestra sociedad, y cuando te despistas, esos prejuicios culturales te operan! Como personas críticas, sabemos lo duro que es en la sociedad ofrecer argumentos, pues a mejor sea el argumento, más violenta será la respuesta, y dará igual que pidas perdón, que aclares que no deseas molestar (un buen argumento demuestra por sí mismo eso, aunque, claro, la gente no quiera verlo!), aunque seas adorable, dará igual, por lo que admiramos a la gente capaz de ofrecer argumentos, sin caer en maniqueísmos (esos mecanismos que establecen grupos cuya identidad se construye a costa de otras identidades), y encima con cariño, que es lo que está a la base del mejor pensamiento crítico que podemos aportar como especie. Y en este preciso momento, compañero de viaje arriesgado, toca... ¡compra! (que si no, nos quedamos sin comida, sin cena, sin desayuno!). Un fuerte abrazo!
