Como aquéllos, nacen, crecen, se reproducen, mueren o alcanzan la inmortalidad. Por el camino se desgastan o fortalecen, hasta lograr una situación más o menos estable en la memoria, lo cual también quiere decir en el olvido. No son estados definitivos. Las modas, las casualidades, los cambios de mentalidad y los intereses humanos relegan y recuperan libros y dioses de manera continua. Sin embargo, el tiempo transcurrido desde su creación es un buen crisol para poner a prueba la calidad o la divinidad de cada cual. Hace quince años que fue publicada la novela ¡Menudo reparto!, de Jonathan Coe. Poco tiempo ha transcurrido desde entonces para saber si su destino será la tumba o el olimpo, pero llama la atención comprobar que su lectura tiene mayor interés en el año 2009 que en 1994, no sólo en el plano literario sino en los aspectos éticos y socioeconómicos. Con un estilo que recuerda los tests de Rochard, Coe elaboró una obra muy interesante que puede abordarse desde diversos ángulos. Por mi parte, la cercana relación que siempre he mantenido con la creación gráfica, tal vez me haya llevado a interesarme, de manera particular, por el juego de espejos y degradados entre el carácter de los personajes, las acciones y el estilo literario de ¡Menudo reparto! . DEGRADADOS Según el Diccionario de la Academia, el verbo degradar se utiliza para describir la acción de reducir las cualidades inherentes a alguien o algo. Sin embargo, su participio, degradado, el cual se ha convertido en sustantivo desde hace mucho tiempo, no figura en el DRAE. Este término se utiliza, fundamentalmente, en los siguientes casos: <OL type=a> <LI> Pintura: referido a la disminución del tamaño y viveza del color de las figuras de un cuadro, según la distancia a que se suponen colocadas. Aunque para el pintor, degradado y difuminado se logran con técnicas diferentes, desde el punto de vista del espectador vienen a ser sinónimos, puesto que el resultado visual es parecido. </LI> <LI> Química: transformar una sustancia compleja en otra de constitución más sencilla. </LI> <LI>Ética: persona humillada, rebajada o envilecida.</LI> <LI>Instituciones: alguien privado de las dignidades, honores, empleos y privilegios que tenía.</LI> <LI>Cine: transición entre dos planos en que las imágenes de ambos se mezclan gradualmente.</LI></OL> Todas estas aplicaciones del término, usado como verbo, adjetivo o sustantivo, son sobradamente conocidas. Quizás, sea menos habitual que se examine su utilización como técnica literaria. . UNA NOVELA. UNA PELÍCULA Cuando Jonathan Coe, el célebre escritor británico, no se había desprendido de la mayor parte de sus ropajes literarios para llegar a su reciente La lluvia antes de caer, escribió una novela titulada ¡Menudo reparto! (What a Carve Up!). Fue publicada en el Reino Unido, en 1994, y, en España, apareció dos años más tarde de la mano de Anagrama. El título de la obra se debe a un mediocre film británico (What a Carve Up!), estrenado en 1961, dirigido por Pat Jackson y protagonizado por Sid James, Kenneth Connor, Shirley Eaton y otros intérpretes ingleses del momento. La película narra una reunión familiar nocturna en una mansión, en la que los miembros de una familia van siendo asesinados de manera misteriosa. <DIV style="TEXT-ALIGN: center"><IMG src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_y7p5ps8SYe8/SmG4U5aeBMI/AAAAAAAAAlk/MhIVhCvJR1o/s288/shirley6.jpg"></A> <IMG src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_y7p5ps8SYe8/SmG4YB6gLlI/AAAAAAAAAlo/SqUad1do_dw/s288/sHIRLEY%20eATON%20ORO.jpg"></A></DIV> Shirley Eaton tiene un rol significativo en la novela de Coe. Esta intérprete actuó también en una película de James Bond, en el papel de la secretaria de Goldfinger. La imagen de la derecha muestra cómo murió en este film, cubierta por un baño de oro que le impedía respirar. . Jonathan Coe no sólo toma el título de esta película, sino que toda su novela gira en torno a ella: el parecido físico de algunos personajes, la reunión familiar, los asesinatos, el impacto que le produjo su visión al narrador en su infancia, la sensualidad de una escena entre Kenneth Connor y Shirley Eaton, incluso la mezcla de comedia y thriller, que contiene este film de segunda categoría, llega a impregnar gran parte del relato. Bueno será advertir que las técnicas de este escritor británico nada tienen nada que ver con muchas de esas novelas basadas en películas que durante la última década han salido de la pluma de una generación de novelistas cubanos. Este especialísimo método consiste en ver un film cualquiera en un cine del extranjero, volver a Cuba y contarlo en un libro, lo mismo que se contaría el capítulo de un culebrón a un compañero de trabajo en la hora del desayuno. Y confiar en que tanto los editores como los lectores no tengan la mala fortuna de tropezarse con la película. . DEGRADADOS FAMILIARES El argumento de la novela: en la década de 1980, Robert Owen, un escritor de 38 años, con dos libros publicados y falto de dinero, es contratado por Tabitha Winshaw, una anciana aristócrata presuntamente chiflada, para que escriba la historia de su familia. Poco a poco, el escritor va descubriendo que los miembros de esta saga son codiciosos, corruptos –degradados, al fin– y controlan gran parte de la vida económica, artística y política de Gran Bretaña. La llegada al poder de Margareth Thacher con sus pelotazos, sus medidas privatizadoras y sus recortes de los derechos de las clases medias y trabajadoras, le viene de perilla a los Winshaw. Cada uno de sus miembros multiplica su fortuna, usando los resortes que el gobierno de Thacher pone a su alcance: Mark y la venta de armas a Saddam Husein; Thomas y las escandalosas ganancias de los bancos en la adquisición de empresas públicas; Henry y el traspaso a la sanidad privada de los capitales destinados a la sanidad pública; Roddy y el encanallamiento de las galerías de arte; Hillary y la manipulación de la opinión por medio de la prensa amarilla; Dorothy y el mortífero negocio de la comida basura;... <DIV style="TEXT-ALIGN: center"><IMG src="http://lh6.ggpht.com/_y7p5ps8SYe8/SmG_a2MR4YI/AAAAAAAAAmE/oiAsipxX06Q/s400/saddamThacher.jpg"></A></DIV> Durante el mandato de Margareth Thacher, las compañías británicas surtieron de armamento de todo tipo al régimen de Saddam Husein, con el apoyo de la primera ministra. La novela "¡Menudo reparto!" informa cómo se llevaron a cabo estos negocios multimillonarios, en manos de pocas personas. . Un cuadro familiar que veinte años más tarde no nos parece lejano, sino a la moda más en boga, ataviado con la rabiosa actualidad en que lo sitúa la brutal crisis derivada de la política thacheriana –nada para los trabajadores, pero sin los trabajadores– que se fue extendiendo como una mala fiebre por los países del primer mundo. La canonización de la codicia y de los codiciosos: San Mario Conde, San Emilio Botín, San BBVA, San Bernard Madoff,... Admirados de todos, llevados a los altares por los presidentes de de las corporaciones, por los presidentes de las naciones y por los medios de comunicación, señalados como patrones de conducta a seguir por las nuevas generaciones. Degradados en su comportamiento ético y declarados arquetipos de la hipermodernidad. . DEGRADADOS CINEMATOGRÁFICOS Los editores y montadores de películas saben perfectamente que la transición en degradado entre los planos del film presenta grandes dificultades, porque a las imágenes les cuesta mezclarse de manera correcta. Incluso, los más nuevos programas de tratamiento de imagen digital tienen problemas con los degradados. A pesar de ello, si no se abusa de este efecto, como suelen hacer los principantes, los degradados proporcionan una transición armoniosa entre dos planos que se suponen separados por el tiempo narrativo o por el espacio geográfico. <DIV style="TEXT-ALIGN: center"><IMG style="WIDTH: 203px; HEIGHT: 258px" height=281 src="http://lh3.ggpht.com/_y7p5ps8SYe8/SmHD9IJNyOI/AAAAAAAAAmQ/bcAmNq3KQzU/s400/montaje.jpg" width=228></DIV> </A>La "invasión" de la literatura por parte del cine es de sobra conocida. Sin embargo, los recursos cinematográficos son cada vez más aplicados por los escritores a la narrativa e, incluso, a las obras de ensayo. . Existe una transición algo más sofisticada para que los planos no "salten" ante el espectador, sino que se desarrollen de manera uniforme. Consiste en colocar, en cada uno de los dos planos, elementos semejantes o que contengan resonancias comunes. Podría ser que el primero contuviese la trompa de un elefante y el segundo incluyera el primer plano de un dedo (formas parecidas), o la trompa de una orquesta sinfónica (homónimo), o una nube gris (colores semejantes) o una persona con la nariz chata (oposición). También se puede vincular más sutilmente, recurriendo a conceptos en lugar de imágenes: el plano primero plantea un interrogante sobre la crueldad de la guerra y el segundo plano ofrece el discurso económico de un banquero como respuesta. Lo esencial es que la mente del espectador encuentre el vínculo entre los dos planos. Esto bastará para que el tránsito entre ambos se realice de manera tan suave como en un degradado físico (todo lo física que puede ser una imagen digital). Lo cual nos situaría frente a un efectivo degradado subliminal. Hay otra transición importante en cinematografía: la que une dos secuencias. Mientras las transiciones entre planos suelen ser decididas en el momento de la edición, las correspondientes a las escenas es conveniente que estén explicitadas de antemano en el guión. Cuando las acciones de cada secuencia desembocan de manera natural en la siguiente, no es preciso construir puentes que las unan. Si en la pantalla vemos a un hombre estrellarse con su coche contra un árbol y, en la siguiente escena, aparece una familia llorando junto a un féretro, los enlaces entre ambas acciones son evidentes. Sin embargo, no siempre sucede así. Después del accidente podría venir una secuencia en la que un grupo de amigos está celebrando una comida, y el director desea unir ambas escenas. En este caso, hay que intercalar una pequeña transición que nos informe por qué el resultado del accidente motiva la comida. Esa explicación no tiene por qué ir exactamente entre ambas escenas, sino que puede ubicarse en medio de la acción de la comida, desvelando, por ejemplo, que se está recordando el aniversario de la muerte del automovilista. Así, los espectadores tendremos ante nuestros ojos una situación tan coherente como consecuente. Evidentemente, el guionista o el director de la película puede decidir romper vínculos entre planos o secuencias para buscar efectos gráficos, filosóficos o psicológicos, lo cual tampoco deja de ser otra forma de transición. Pero aquí estamos hablando de degradados, no de rupturas. . DEGRADADOS NARRATIVOS Una obra literaria funciona, en muchos aspectos, como un cuadro o como una película. En lo que se refiere a degradados y transiciones, también. En mi opinión, la novela ¡Menudo reparto!, de Jonathan Coe, es una de las obras donde más se han aplicado los degradados de todo tipo, desde la conducta de la desalmada familia Winshaw a las técnicas literarias desplegadas por el autor. Las reflexiones sobre las transiciones en cinematografía no las he traído por puro capricho, sino como ejemplo de las técnicas que Coe –conocedor del medio cinematográfico– aplica en su novela. Sólo que el autor británico las expande hasta convertirlas, en ocasiones, en el elemento más importante de varios pasajes de su obra que se nos presentan de una manera tan permeable que no nos cuesta trabajo deslizarnos hacia los otros planos narrativos que el autor ha urdido encima y debajo del texto principal. <DIV style="TEXT-ALIGN: center"><IMG style="WIDTH: 197px; HEIGHT: 253px" height=32 src="http://lh4.ggpht.com/_y7p5ps8SYe8/SmHOkYRp4VI/AAAAAAAAAmw/ZOWg5rKBAlU/s400/pulgarcitomar.jpg" width=32></DIV> </A> <DIV style="TEXT-ALIGN: center">Las pistas, que estaban sembradas a lo largo del libro... </DIV> . Uno de los recursos de Jonathan Coe, utilizado sobre los degradados literarios de la misma manera que las migas de pan de Pulgarcito sobre los caminos del bosque, es la introducción de un elevado número de aparentes casualidades. Leídas hoy, algunas páginas recuerdan El cuaderno rojo, de Paul Auster, un buen ejemplo sobre el empleo del azar en la narrativa. Y hasta se podría pensar que Coe se inspiró en esa obra, si no fuera por el hecho de que fue publicada un año después que la suya. Sin embargo, en ¡Menudo reparto!, las casualidades terminan convirtiéndose en causalidades y, a lo largo de casi 500 páginas, actúan como vínculos que sujetan con firmeza cada punto de los degradados, invitando al lector a seguir su rastro hasta la casa del ogro o a devorarlas con avidez, como los pajaritos a las migas. La novela comprende la vida completa de Robert Owen, el protagonista-escritor-narrador, desde su infancia hasta el día de su muerte, pasando por su adolescencia y juventud. Los capítulos no siguen un orden cronológico, sino neurológico, como si fueran páginas web que hicieran su aparición cuando se activa el vínculo de cualquier palabra, asunto o recuerdo. Sin embargo, su ordenamiento está lejos de constituir un caprichoso albedrío por parte de Coe. Al contrario, siguen un plan que les lleva a solaparse, actuando como un tul que nos permite entrever otros hilos narrativos que transcurren de manera más subterránea, provenientes del pasado, del subconsciente o de filmes que no se citan, como La rosa púrpura del Cairo. Los diversos grados de transparencia en estos degradados nos sumergen más y más en la visión cómico-depresiva del protagonista. El final es brillante, como corresponde a una buena novela policiaca, y vuelve a evocarnos a Auster, esta vez travestido en Agatha Christie. Las pistas, que estaban sembradas a lo largo y ancho del libro, van siendo abonadas y retoñando, página tras página, hasta alcanzar la madurez sin estridencias, asombrándonos de haber presentido unos frutos y de no haber advertido otros. ¡Menudo reparto! Es una excelente novela que, siendo un clara denuncia del comportamiento infame de una clase social codiciosa y abusadora, resulta también un buen ejemplo de narración sutil que en ocasiones llega a evocarnos pasajes del mejor Lezama Lima. La recomiendo especialmente a los lectores interesado en técnicas narrativas. Como curiosidad, debo añadir, que sobre este libro realizó la BBC una dramatización en ocho programas de radio, emitidos en el año 2005, que tuvieron una excelente acogida.

Pero Lissavetzky, tras hacer esa afirmación ilusionante, se declaró a continuación "razonablemente preocupado por el futuro" en estos momentos de crisis y dijo que esperaba que "la financiación, que en todo caso no está asegurada, sea superior a la de Atenas 2004, pero tengo dudas de que sea superior a la de Pekín 2008". TVE ya ha anunciado que reducirá su aportación en un 50%. Las empresas aportaban hasta ahora 750.000 euros (primer grupo) y 250.000 (segundo), y ahora se les va a pedir 1.200.000 y 600.000, respectivamente, "de los que deducirán fiscalmente el 90%", explicó Lissavetzky. Marta Domínguez pulverizó la plusmarca española de 3.000 obstáculos y luchó por la medalla olímpica en Pekín hasta los últimos metros de una final marcada por la desgracia al paso del obstáculo situado a falta de poco más de 200 metros para la línea de meta; mientras que Juan Carlos Higuero ganó la medalla de bronce en 1.500 en el Mundial de pista cubierta celebrado en Valencia y fue finalista en la final olímpica disputada en El Nido, el estadio en el que se celebraron las pruebas de atletismo de los JJ.OO. de Pekín'2008. Para el mediofondista burgalés, varias veces finalista, es su primer trofeo, pero en cambio, para Marta Domínguez, su compañera de reparto, se trata del sexto título, pues ya fue proclamada mejor atleta española del año en otras cinco ocasiones, dos veces más que "Paquillo" Fernández y Fermín Cacho ¡Menudo trío!. La Gala en el Comité Olímpico Español La entrega de premios se llevará a cabo durante la XIV Gala del Atletismo Español, que este año se celebra en el Comité Olímpico Español, calle Arequipa nº 13, del madrileño barrio de Hortaleza. El acto se celebrará a partir de las 20,00 horas del 17 de enero de 2009. Jesús Ángel García, "Paquillo" Fernández, María Vasco y Ruth Beitia, finalistas Marta Domínguez y Juan Carlos Higuero se han impuesto tras una votación que comenzó en el mes de noviembre y finalizó el pasado 15 de diciembre. En la misma han participado los lectores de "Atletismo Español" que es la revista oficial de la R.F.E.A. Marta Domínguez ha sumado 11.280 votos, por 10.980 de la marchadora María Vasco, finalista en 20 km marcha en Pekín, y por la saltadora Ruth Beitia, también finalista en la capital china, con 7.740 votos. Por su parte, Juan Carlos Higuero ha ganado con 12.420 votos, seguido por el incombustible marchador Jesús Ángel García, cuarto clasificado en Pekín, que ha obtenido 8.160 votos, frente a los 7.739 logrados por otro marchador, "Paquillo" Fernández, séptimo en Pekín, primero en la Copa del Mundo y ganador el año pasado. Premios a los mejores atletas, júnior, promesa y veteranos Los lectores de "Atletismo Español" también eligieron a los Mejores Atletas de la categoría júnior y promesa. Los títulos júnior han recaído en el juvenil Eusebio Cáceres, medalla de bronce en longitud en el Mundial Júnior, y en Julia Takacs, una marchadora que obtuvo el sexto puesto en la distancia de 10.000 metros en ese mismo mundial disputado a mediados del mes de julio en la localidad polaca de Bydgoszcz. Ambos estrenan título y suceden en el palmarés al Víctor Corrales y a Bárbara Hernando. Eusebio Cáceres sumó 751 votos por 742 de Miguel Ángel Sancho y 550 de Lluis Torla, en una de las votaciones más apretadas que se recuerdan. Se da la coincidencia de que estos tres atletas obtuvieron sendas medallas de bronce en Bydgoszcz en sus respectivas pruebas de longitud, altura y 10.000 metros marcha. El triunfo de la marchadora, que ha sumado 1.052 votos, ha sido más holgado, pues la segunda clasificada, Cristina Jordán, se ha quedado en 520 votos, y la tercera, Jessica Soto, en 260. Mark Ujakpor, un velocista madrileño, especialista en 400 m.l., ha sido el elegido en la categoría promesa al alcanzar 431 votos, por 320 de Luis Alberto Marco y 307 de Álvaro Rodríguez, el ganador del año pasado. En féminas, victoria sin paliativos de la vallista Josephine Onyia, plusmarquista española absoluta de 100mv, con 819 votos, frente a los 352 de Bárbara Hernando -ganadora del título júnior el año pasado- y los 263 de Gema Martín-Pozuelo. Los mejores atletas veteranos han sido Jesús Borrego, que repite tras ganar el año pasado, y Aurora Pérez, que también ganó en 2004, 2005 y 2006. El cordobés y la madrileña, han sido elegidos mediante sendas votaciones a través de la revista y de la página web de la RFEA y también en virtud del valor porcentual de sus mejores marcas. Premios especiales: Insignias de Oro,Placas y Trofeos RFEA El Presidente del Comité Olímpico Español, Alejandro Blanco, recibirá la Insignia de Oro de la RFEA por su constante apoyo al deporte en general y al atletismo en particular. También recibirán la Insignia de Oro, dos entrenadores de enorme prestigio en nuestro deporte y de larguísima trayectoria: Mariano Diez, técnico que dirige con maestría a Marta Domínguez, y Alfonso Ortega, que entre otros, en su día, entrenó a Javier Álvarez Salgado. Una Placa de la RFEA recibirán Vicente Añó, que ha sido Vicepresidente de la RFEA durante todo el mandato de José Mª Odriozola, Luis Miguel Landa, Responsable Nacional de Fondo en el Comité Técnico de la RFEA y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la RFEA también durante ese tiempo, y por último, a título póstumo, Juan David de la Casa, entrenador jiennense y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la RFEA, trágicamente fallecido en accidente de tráfico el pasado verano. Un Trofeo RFEA le será entregado a la Candidatura de Madrid'2016, por su particular fomento del atletismo, patrocinando la celebración de grandes eventos deportivos en Madrid. Distinciones a los entrenadores y clubes También por escrutinio de votos en "Atletismo Español" quedaron elegidos el Mejor Entrenador y el Entrenador Revelación de 2008. Los trofeos han sido para Antonio Serrano, el de mejor entrenador, quien entre otros atletas dirige a Juan Carlos de la Ossa, Chema Martínez, Dolores Checa o Juan Carlos Higuero; mientras que el premio Revelación cae en José Peiró, que guía los pasos del Miguel Ángel Sancho. Antonio Serrano 911 votos por 367 de Manuel Pascua. José Peiró logró 287 votos, por 269 de Luis Lizaso (técnico de Mario Pestano e Irache Quintanal). El título de Mejor Club del año ha vuelto a recaer en el Valencia Terra i Mar en mujeres (ya suma trece galardones) y en el Playas de Castellón el de hombres, que obtiene su primer trofeo. En este caso el premio se otorga mediante un sistema mixto de votos a través de "Atletismo Español" y de la suma de puntos que se obtienen mediante el número de presencias en el Ranking de España y de los puestos alcanzados por cada club en las competiciones por equipos. El Playas de Castellón repite, pues también ha sido galardonado por tercer año con el premio al mejor club en su conjunto. Para obtener este premio se tienen en cuenta las puntuaciones y clasificaciones obtenidas en todas las categorías por edades tanto en hombres como en mujeres. Mario Pestano y "Paquillo" Fernández recibirán el premio a la Gesta del Año Uno de los premios más significativos de cuantos se entregan en la Gala es el correspondiente a la Gesta del Año. En esta ocasión la RFEA ha considerado que durante 2008 hubo dos acciones merecedoras de este premio. Las dos se realizaron en la misma competición, en el campeonato de España al aire libre celebrado en Tenerife. Por un lado el marchador "Paquillo" Fernández estableció la plusmarca mundial de 10.000 metros con un registro de 37:53.09, y por otro, el discóbolo canario Mario Pestano, en su tierra, pulverizaba su propio récord de España con una marca de 69,50 metros, con la que finalizó el año como tercero del ránking mundial. Premios a plusmarquistas y medallistas El capítulo de premios a atletas se cierra con los ya habituales galardones a los que durante 2008 superaron algún Record de España, y también a todos aquellos que lograron medallas en Campeonatos de rango internacional. Marta Domínguez pulverizó la plusmarca española de 3.000 obstáculos y luchó por la medalla olímpica en Pekín hasta los últimos metros de una final marcada por la desgracia al paso del obstáculo situado a falta de poco más de 200 metros para la línea de meta; mientras que Juan Carlos Higuero ganó la medalla de bronce en 1.500 en el Mundial de pista cubierta celebrado en Valencia y fue finalista en la final olímpica disputada en El Nido, el estadio en el que se celebraron las pruebas de atletismo de los JJ.OO. de Pekín'2008. Para el mediofondista burgalés, varias veces finalista, es su primer trofeo, pero en cambio, para Marta Domínguez, su compañera de reparto, se trata del sexto título, pues ya fue proclamada mejor atleta española del año en otras cinco ocasiones, dos veces más que "Paquillo" Fernández y Fermín Cacho ¡Menudo trío!. La Gala en el Comité Olímpico Español La entrega de premios se llevará a cabo durante la XIV Gala del Atletismo Español, que este año se celebra en el Comité Olímpico Español, calle Arequipa nº 13, del madrileño barrio de Hortaleza. El acto se celebrará a partir de las 20,00 horas del 17 de enero de 2009. Jesús Ángel García, "Paquillo" Fernández, María Vasco y Ruth Beitia, finalistas Marta Domínguez y Juan Carlos Higuero se han impuesto tras una votación que comenzó en el mes de noviembre y finalizó el pasado 15 de diciembre. En la misma han participado los lectores de "Atletismo Español" que es la revista oficial de la R.F.E.A. Marta Domínguez ha sumado 11.280 votos, por 10.980 de la marchadora María Vasco, finalista en 20 km marcha en Pekín, y por la saltadora Ruth Beitia, también finalista en la capital china, con 7.740 votos. Por su parte, Juan Carlos Higuero ha ganado con 12.420 votos, seguido por el incombustible marchador Jesús Ángel García, cuarto clasificado en Pekín, que ha obtenido 8.160 votos, frente a los 7.739 logrados por otro marchador, "Paquillo" Fernández, séptimo en Pekín, primero en la Copa del Mundo y ganador el año pasado. Premios a los mejores atletas, júnior, promesa y veteranos Los lectores de "Atletismo Español" también eligieron a los Mejores Atletas de la categoría júnior y promesa. Los títulos júnior han recaído en el juvenil Eusebio Cáceres, medalla de bronce en longitud en el Mundial Júnior, y en Julia Takacs, una marchadora que obtuvo el sexto puesto en la distancia de 10.000 metros en ese mismo mundial disputado a mediados del mes de julio en la localidad polaca de Bydgoszcz. Ambos estrenan título y suceden en el palmarés al Víctor Corrales y a Bárbara Hernando. Eusebio Cáceres sumó 751 votos por 742 de Miguel Ángel Sancho y 550 de Lluis Torla, en una de las votaciones más apretadas que se recuerdan. Se da la coincidencia de que estos tres atletas obtuvieron sendas medallas de bronce en Bydgoszcz en sus respectivas pruebas de longitud, altura y 10.000 metros marcha. El triunfo de la marchadora, que ha sumado 1.052 votos, ha sido más holgado, pues la segunda clasificada, Cristina Jordán, se ha quedado en 520 votos, y la tercera, Jessica Soto, en 260. Mark Ujakpor, un velocista madrileño, especialista en 400 m.l., ha sido el elegido en la categoría promesa al alcanzar 431 votos, por 320 de Luis Alberto Marco y 307 de Álvaro Rodríguez, el ganador del año pasado. En féminas, victoria sin paliativos de la vallista Josephine Onyia, plusmarquista española absoluta de 100mv, con 819 votos, frente a los 352 de Bárbara Hernando -ganadora del título júnior el año pasado- y los 263 de Gema Martín-Pozuelo. Los mejores atletas veteranos han sido Jesús Borrego, que repite tras ganar el año pasado, y Aurora Pérez, que también ganó en 2004, 2005 y 2006. El cordobés y la madrileña, han sido elegidos mediante sendas votaciones a través de la revista y de la página web de la RFEA y también en virtud del valor porcentual de sus mejores marcas. Premios especiales: Insignias de Oro,Placas y Trofeos RFEA El Presidente del Comité Olímpico Español, Alejandro Blanco, recibirá la Insignia de Oro de la RFEA por su constante apoyo al deporte en general y al atletismo en particular. También recibirán la Insignia de Oro, dos entrenadores de enorme prestigio en nuestro deporte y de larguísima trayectoria: Mariano Diez, técnico que dirige con maestría a Marta Domínguez, y Alfonso Ortega, que entre otros, en su día, entrenó a Javier Álvarez Salgado. Una Placa de la RFEA recibirán Vicente Añó, que ha sido Vicepresidente de la RFEA durante todo el mandato de José Mª Odriozola, Luis Miguel Landa, Responsable Nacional de Fondo en el Comité Técnico de la RFEA y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la RFEA también durante ese tiempo, y por último, a título póstumo, Juan David de la Casa, entrenador jiennense y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la RFEA, trágicamente fallecido en accidente de tráfico el pasado verano. Un Trofeo RFEA le será entregado a la Candidatura de Madrid'2016, por su particular fomento del atletismo, patrocinando la celebración de grandes eventos deportivos en Madrid. Distinciones a los entrenadores y clubes También por escrutinio de votos en "Atletismo Español" quedaron elegidos el Mejor Entrenador y el Entrenador Revelación de 2008. Los trofeos han sido para Antonio Serrano, el de mejor entrenador, quien entre otros atletas dirige a Juan Carlos de la Ossa, Chema Martínez, Dolores Checa o Juan Carlos Higuero; mientras que el premio Revelación cae en José Peiró, que guía los pasos del Miguel Ángel Sancho. Antonio Serrano 911 votos por 367 de Manuel Pascua. José Peiró logró 287 votos, por 269 de Luis Lizaso (técnico de Mario Pestano e Irache Quintanal). El título de Mejor Club del año ha vuelto a recaer en el Valencia Terra i Mar en mujeres (ya suma trece galardones) y en el Playas de Castellón el de hombres, que obtiene su primer trofeo. En este caso el premio se otorga mediante un sistema mixto de votos a través de "Atletismo Español" y de la suma de puntos que se obtienen mediante el número de presencias en el Ranking de España y de los puestos alcanzados por cada club en las competiciones por equipos. El Playas de Castellón repite, pues también ha sido galardonado por tercer año con el premio al mejor club en su conjunto. Para obtener este premio se tienen en cuenta las puntuaciones y clasificaciones obtenidas en todas las categorías por edades tanto en hombres como en mujeres. Mario Pestano y "Paquillo" Fernández recibirán el premio a la Gesta del Año Uno de los premios más significativos de cuantos se entregan en la Gala es el correspondiente a la Gesta del Año. En esta ocasión la RFEA ha considerado que durante 2008 hubo dos acciones merecedoras de este premio. Las dos se realizaron en la misma competición, en el campeonato de España al aire libre celebrado en Tenerife. Por un lado el marchador "Paquillo" Fernández estableció la plusmarca mundial de 10.000 metros con un registro de 37:53.09, y por otro, el discóbolo canario Mario Pestano, en su tierra, pulverizaba su propio récord de España con una marca de 69,50 metros, con la que finalizó el año como tercero del ránking mundial. Marta Domínguez pulverizó la plusmarca española de 3.000 obstáculos y luchó por la medalla olímpica en Pekín hasta los últimos metros de una final marcada por la desgracia al paso del obstáculo situado a falta de poco más de 200 metros para la línea de meta; mientras que Juan Carlos Higuero ganó la medalla de bronce en 1.500 en el Mundial de pista cubierta celebrado en Valencia y fue finalista en la final olímpica disputada en El Nido, el estadio en el que se celebraron las pruebas de atletismo de los JJ.OO. de Pekín'2008. Para el mediofondista burgalés, varias veces finalista, es su primer trofeo, pero en cambio, para Marta Domínguez, su compañera de reparto, se trata del sexto título, pues ya fue proclamada mejor atleta española del año en otras cinco ocasiones, dos veces más que "Paquillo" Fernández y Fermín Cacho ¡Menudo trío!. La Gala en el Comité Olímpico Español La entrega de premios se llevará a cabo durante la XIV Gala del Atletismo Español, que este año se celebra en el Comité Olímpico Español, calle Arequipa nº 13, del madrileño barrio de Hortaleza. El acto se celebrará a partir de las 20,00 horas del 17 de enero de 2009. Jesús Ángel García, "Paquillo" Fernández, María Vasco y Ruth Beitia, finalistas Marta Domínguez y Juan Carlos Higuero se han impuesto tras una votación que comenzó en el mes de noviembre y finalizó el pasado 15 de diciembre. En la misma han participado los lectores de "Atletismo Español" que es la revista oficial de la R.F.E.A. Marta Domínguez ha sumado 11.280 votos, por 10.980 de la marchadora María Vasco, finalista en 20 km marcha en Pekín, y por la saltadora Ruth Beitia, también finalista en la capital china, con 7.740 votos. Por su parte, Juan Carlos Higuero ha ganado con 12.420 votos, seguido por el incombustible marchador Jesús Ángel García, cuarto clasificado en Pekín, que ha obtenido 8.160 votos, frente a los 7.739 logrados por otro marchador, "Paquillo" Fernández, séptimo en Pekín, primero en la Copa del Mundo y ganador el año pasado. Premios a los mejores atletas, júnior, promesa y veteranos Los lectores de "Atletismo Español" también eligieron a los Mejores Atletas de la categoría júnior y promesa. Los títulos júnior han recaído en el juvenil Eusebio Cáceres, medalla de bronce en longitud en el Mundial Júnior, y en Julia Takacs, una marchadora que obtuvo el sexto puesto en la distancia de 10.000 metros en ese mismo mundial disputado a mediados del mes de julio en la localidad polaca de Bydgoszcz. Ambos estrenan título y suceden en el palmarés al Víctor Corrales y a Bárbara Hernando. Eusebio Cáceres sumó 751 votos por 742 de Miguel Ángel Sancho y 550 de Lluis Torla, en una de las votaciones más apretadas que se recuerdan. Se da la coincidencia de que estos tres atletas obtuvieron sendas medallas de bronce en Bydgoszcz en sus respectivas pruebas de longitud, altura y 10.000 metros marcha. El triunfo de la marchadora, que ha sumado 1.052 votos, ha sido más holgado, pues la segunda clasificada, Cristina Jordán, se ha quedado en 520 votos, y la tercera, Jessica Soto, en 260. Mark Ujakpor, un velocista madrileño, especialista en 400 m.l., ha sido el elegido en la categoría promesa al alcanzar 431 votos, por 320 de Luis Alberto Marco y 307 de Álvaro Rodríguez, el ganador del año pasado. En féminas, victoria sin paliativos de la vallista Josephine Onyia, plusmarquista española absoluta de 100mv, con 819 votos, frente a los 352 de Bárbara Hernando -ganadora del título júnior el año pasado- y los 263 de Gema Martín-Pozuelo. Los mejores atletas veteranos han sido Jesús Borrego, que repite tras ganar el año pasado, y Aurora Pérez, que también ganó en 2004, 2005 y 2006. El cordobés y la madrileña, han sido elegidos mediante sendas votaciones a través de la revista y de la página web de la RFEA y también en virtud del valor porcentual de sus mejores marcas. Premios especiales: Insignias de Oro,Placas y Trofeos RFEA El Presidente del Comité Olímpico Español, Alejandro Blanco, recibirá la Insignia de Oro de la RFEA por su constante apoyo al deporte en general y al atletismo en particular. También recibirán la Insignia de Oro, dos entrenadores de enorme prestigio en nuestro deporte y de larguísima trayectoria: Mariano Diez, técnico que dirige con maestría a Marta Domínguez, y Alfonso Ortega, que entre otros, en su día, entrenó a Javier Álvarez Salgado. Una Placa de la RFEA recibirán Vicente Añó, que ha sido Vicepresidente de la RFEA durante todo el mandato de José Mª Odriozola, Luis Miguel Landa, Responsable Nacional de Fondo en el Comité Técnico de la RFEA y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la RFEA también durante ese tiempo, y por último, a título póstumo, Juan David de la Casa, entrenador jiennense y miembro de la Junta Directiva de la RFEA, trágicamente fallecido en accidente de tráfico el pasado verano. Un Trofeo RFEA le será entregado a la Candidatura de Madrid'2016, por su particular fomento del atletismo, patrocinando la celebración de grandes eventos deportivos en Madrid. Distinciones a los entrenadores y clubes También por escrutinio de votos en "Atletismo Español" quedaron elegidos el Mejor Entrenador y el Entrenador Revelación de 2008. Los trofeos han sido para Antonio Serrano, el de mejor entrenador, quien entre otros atletas dirige a Juan Carlos de la Ossa, Chema Martínez, Dolores Checa o Juan Carlos Higuero; mientras que el premio Revelación cae en José Peiró, que guía los pasos del Miguel Ángel Sancho. Antonio Serrano 911 votos por 367 de Manuel Pascua. José Peiró logró 287 votos, por 269 de Luis Lizaso (técnico de Mario Pestano e Irache Quintanal). El título de Mejor Club del año ha vuelto a recaer en el Valencia Terra i Mar en mujeres (ya suma trece galardones) y en el Playas de Castellón el de hombres, que obtiene su primer trofeo. En este caso el premio se otorga mediante un sistema mixto de votos a través de "Atletismo Español" y de la suma de puntos que se obtienen mediante el número de presencias en el Ranking de España y de los puestos alcanzados por cada club en las competiciones por equipos. El Playas de Castellón repite, pues también ha sido galardonado por tercer año con el premio al mejor club en su conjunto. Para obtener este premio se tienen en cuenta las puntuaciones y clasificaciones obtenidas en todas las categorías por edades tanto en hombres como en mujeres. Mario Pestano y "Paquillo" Fernández recibirán el premio a la Gesta del Año Uno de los premios más significativos de cuantos se entregan en la Gala es el correspondiente a la Gesta del Año. En esta ocasión la RFEA ha considerado que durante 2008 hubo dos acciones merecedoras de este premio. Las dos se realizaron en la misma competición, en el campeonato de España al aire libre celebrado en Tenerife. Por un lado el marchador "Paquillo" Fernández estableció la plusmarca mundial de 10.000 metros con un registro de 37:53.09, y por otro, el discóbolo canario Mario Pestano, en su tierra, pulverizaba su propio récord de España con una marca de 69,50 metros, con la que finalizó el año como tercero del ránking mundial. Blanco dijo sentirse 'satisfecho' por la actuación de España en Pekín y reseñó que las 18 medallas (5 oros, 10 platas y 3 bronces) obtenidas por el equipo olímpico español han sido un resultado 'importante' para la expedición. 'Nuestra valoración es positiva, es el mejor resultado en unos Juegos Olímpicos, dejando aparte lo de Barcelona, que es un hecho apartado por el 'plus' que da competir en casa', comentó el presidente del COE, que aseguró que el valor de conseguir una medalla en la cita china era muy elevado. 'Las medallas en Pekín estaban muy caras, más que en Atenas, y por eso nuestra valoración es positiva', indicó el gallego, que quiso incidir en la dificultad de conseguir preseas en la cita china. 'Todo el mundo quiere que se ganen medallas, es cierto que no hemos sacado el máximo, pero no hay que escandalizarse, los deportistas son humanos y no hay nada seguro', explicó Blanco, que señaló a 'Paquillo' Fernández y Javier Gomez Noya como dos ejemplos de atletas acostumbrados a pisar el podio que en Pekín no pudieron hacer lo mismo. Por su parte, el presidente del Comité Olímpico Español no tildó de fracaso la actuación del atletismo español en los Juegos, y destacó los once puestos de finalistas que obtuvo la delegación española. 'No conseguir ninguna medalla es una decepción, pero cada vez es más difícil lograrlo, y que el día de la competición no salga la medalla es algo que puede pasar', expresó Blanco, que dijo que el nivel del atletismo español está 'fuera de dudas' por los resultados obtenidos en los últimos años. Dopaje En otro orden de cosas, Blanco quiso referirse también al único caso de dopaje del equipo olímpico español en Pekín, el positivo de la ciclista Maribel Moreno. 'Cuando un deportista se quiere dopar, no hay medio que lo impida, pero no hay que darle una importancia que no tiene porque es un caso aislado de 286 deportistas, algo que rompe la norma', apuntó. El presidente del COE alabó el nivel organizativo de la cita de Pekín, a la que no dudó en señalar como 'la mejor de la historia y difícilmente igualable', y también puso fecha a la próxima cita olímpica que albergará España. 'Fácil, en 2016', bromeó Blanco, aludiendo a la candidatura de Madrid por la cita olímpica.
