"Ésta película se parece mucho a Sin City", le dicen a Frank Miller con un tono que roza el desprecio. <strong>"Si se parece, yo soy el culpable...soy el mismo hombre"</strong>, le contesta el director / guionista / escritor Miller de la forma más sencilla y placentera posible. <a href="http://moebiusgraphics.com/" title="http://moebiusgraphics.com/" id="link_0">Frank Miller</a> (creador de los cómics de <em>300</em>, <em>Sin City</em>, <em>Batman: El caballero oscuro</em> y las mejores historias de Lobezno o Daredevil entre otras) estuvo hace unas semanas en España presentando 15 minutos de su próxima película como director: <a href="http://www.mycityscreams.com/" title="http://www.mycityscreams.com/" id="link_0">The Spirit</a>, una adaptación del cómic de <a href="http://www.willeisner.com/" title="http://www.willeisner.com/" id="link_0">Will Esiner</a> (1917-2005), y convenció.
<img src="http://lacomunidad.elpais.com/blogfiles/alta-definicion/191184_thespirit.jpg" id="img_0" class="imgdcha">Vestido de oscuro, con su eterno sombrero a lo Freddie Krueger, Miller presentó con mucho humor y demostrando que hace las cosas por gusto y no por negocio, varias escenas de la película: escenarios creados por ordenador (<strong>"la tecnología ha llegado casi a algo que puedes hacer en cómic"</strong>), un amplio y conocido reparto, el uso de blancos, negros y grises intercalados con gotas de color: la estética <em>Sin City</em> es obvia. Nos espera mucho humor, cine negro y un superhéroe (aquí igual a Miller se le ha ido la mano) misterioso que quiere descubrir quién es: Denny Colt, <em>The Spirit</em>, el detective enmascarado que vuelve de la muerte <a href="http://willeisner.com/spirit/index.html" title="http://willeisner.com/spirit/index.html" id="link_1">creado por Will Eisner en 1940</a>.
Todo parece hecho a la medida de Miller y, sin embargo, el verdadero espíritu está en Eisner, un artista cuya obra debería de empezar a aparecer en los museos de arte de todo el mundo: sin él, el mundo de los cómics y las novelas gráficas no sería lo mismo. Sus bases en el <a href="http://www.ladinamo.org/ldnm/articulo.php?numero=23&id=597" title="http://www.ladinamo.org/ldnm/articulo.php?numero=23&id=597" id="link_1">arte secuencial</a> y en la forma de contar historias son los cimientos de todo lo anterior. Eisner demostró que todo está en una buena historia y en la forma en que se cuenta. Esto último es algo que Miller recordó, citando además a su profesor en el arte de dirigir cine: Robert Rodríguez, respecto al cómic: <strong>"cambian las herramientas, pero lo que importa al final es la historia"</strong>.
Miller expuso las claves de su trabajo con pasión y mostrando mucho respeto por sus actores: <a href="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0532683/" title="http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0532683/" id="link_0">Gabriel Match</a> , Samuel L. Jackson (<strong>"es una bomba atómica; le diriges, le dices lo que tiene que hacer, y luego te cubres"</strong>), Scarlett Johansson, Eva Mendes y Paz Vega.

The Spirit se presenta, en palabras de Miller, <strong>"como una carta de amor a Eisner y a dos pasiones: Nueva York y las mujeres</strong>". Sobre Eisner, amigo de Miller, aunque no paraban <strong>"de discutir a todas horas"</strong>, el director dijo haberle tenido muy presente durante el rodaje. Tanto, que Miller dijo que le sentía como si siempre estuviese detrás de él corrigiéndole, aunque trató <strong>"de hacer todo lo posible para calmarle"</strong>.
<strong>"Una buena película es como una forma de magia"</strong>, dijo Miller, que terminó diciendo que "<strong>hay gente que piensa que su trabajo es una obra maestra y luego no lo es…. Y ésta no pinta nada mal"</strong>.

De esta guisa la veréis en 'The Spirit', la película que Frank Miller estrenará en España en Enero de 2009.
'<strong>The Spirit</strong>' es la adaptación al multilplex del cómic homónimo de Will Eisner y cuenta con un reparto de quitar el hipo: la Johansson, <strong>Eva Mendes</strong>, <strong>Samuel L. Jackson</strong>, <strong>Jamie King</strong> y nuestra <strong>Paz Vega</strong>.
Con una estética a la 'Sin City' o la '300', esta película promete ser, por lo menos, todo un éxito de taquilla. Aunque eso sí, sospechas tenemos de lo que será capaz Miller sin Robert Rodríguez o Zack Znyder a su ladito...
