A new exhibition in Manchester is commemorating the 130 men and women who left Greater Manchester for Spain between 1936 and 1939,to join in the fight against General Franco and his army of fascists.
They were part of an army of around 2,500 recruits from Britain and Ireland who were part of the International brigades who numbered 35,000 from 53 different countries.
Antifascistas’ opened at the People’s History Museum in Manchester on the 6th August and runs until the end of the month.
